    Secured persistent connection - RTMPS

I'm pretty new to Actionscript and I'm trying to find ways to have some means of communication between a server and a flash client (written using Actionscript 2.0). The flash client needs to be able to handle unsolicited requests from the server. I can do this with XMLSocket, but I can't find ways to secure the channel without installing additional components (stunnel) on the client machine. I can also do this with Actionscript 3.0 using RTMPS (using red5) as the server. However, Actionscript 2.0 does not appear to have full support for RTMP. The NetConnection class in Actionscript 2.0 is a lot skinnier than in Actionscript 2.0.

Any thoughts on this? Is there anyway I can have a bidirectional secured persistent channel between a flash client (Actionscript 2.0) and a server?

      Thanks for your help.
