Without any critical info like the actual source of the collada file, its file version, entities containerd and whatnot it is unlikely anyone can unriddle this even if all other prerequisites appear to be in place. Collada is just another failed attempt at creating a standardized 3D file format and files can contain all kinds of rubbish data that whacks out import routines one way or the other.
So basically your saying not to count on support for this issue. Ok thanks!
Would you have the actual Collada file for us to try as well?
One possible solution would be to open the file in a 3d app, and re-save as a new Collada file.
Blender may work - download Blender, and open the file. Use the built-in Collada exporter or the improved Collada exporter addon for Blender found here https://godotengine.org/download/windows to save a new version.
Without direct access to your DAE file it will be difficult to test for problems. What is the size of the file? How heavy are the objects, and textures?
If you post a link to the dae file I'll try it here
