We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, you are getting "out of memory" error and Acrobat Standard DC is freezing, is that correct?
Please repair the Acrobat from Help>repair installation, reboot the machine and see if this brings any difference.
You can also reset the Acrobat preferences, to reset the preferences refer to How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default. Link: https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-8511
Try disabling the protected mode Acrobat, and see if this brings any difference. To disable the protected mode, please refer to Protected View feature for PDFs (Windows), Adobe Reader
Note: Disabling the protected mode is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.
If the issue persists, please use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove the Acrobat Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs Reboot the machine and install Acrobat from Download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC, 2017, XI, or X

I have tried each of these...none of them helped. Still getting the out of memory issue and then it freezes.
Sorry for the trouble, if you have tried all the suggestions mentioned above and the issue still persists, please create a new user account with full admin rights and install Acrobat and see if the issue still persists.
