I'm making a custum RichTextEditor, but for bullet and align
formatting I need to select the whole paragraph. The
mx:RichTextEditor needs to import the mx.core.mx_internal and use
the namespace of mx_interal to access the
getTextField().getFirstCharInParagraph() methods. I'm trying tho
avoid this importation and namespace setting as, for me, they seem
to be a jerry-rig.
The way Flex SDK is set up, it is probably easiest to just
copy the RichTextEditor code into your project and rename it to
MyRichTextEdit (or just change the package name) so you can make
any needed changes. There is some debate on why the internals are
so locked down (dependable API's versus Flex-ibility), and that may
change now that it is open source and there is some credible
competition from Silverlight, which is inspiring OpenFlux, etc.
I had to do this with the DateChooser control, as I needed it
to be transparent, but for some reason the border color would show
instead of being transparent when the alpha was set to 0.
