Disappearing photos in adobe acrobat X Pro

I have created PDF files where I had inserted photos (already in pdf format) into the file.  Originally, the photos were there but now some are not.  Additionally, I reduced the size of some of the original files and some of the new reduced size files retained the photos and yet the original files did not.  Any ideas?

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. As per the description above, the photos in a PDF are disappearing in Acrobat Pro X, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates of Acrobat from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after installing any updates and see if this brings any difference.

You can also try resetting the Acrobat's preferences once and reboot the machine, to reset the preferences, please refer to How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

This policy affects product and security updates for all derivatives of a product or product version (localized versions, minor upgrades, operating systems, dot and double-dot releases, and connector products).
