I got Lightroom instead of Lightroom Classic

I joined a monthly plan ($9.90) so I could use Lightroom Classic and instead Lightroom (the icon with the rounded edges) was automatically downloaded.  I don't know what to do to change this.

Please advise me.

I finally got help through Chat. (Yesterday, it was impossible to hook up because of an overload of requests.)  The representative got everything sorted.

The links that everyone sent me were the places that I was supposed to get to (which I didn't) but there was some sort of problem with my account (which she fixed).

unstall the cc desktop app from here https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and use it to install your adobe subscription and trial programs and uninstall unwanted programs.

If you just joined, you can simply cancel and take the other plan (for Lr Classic).

Please go to adobe.com, log in and go to "manage account". With "Plans and Products" you should be able to go to "manage plan".

May be it allows you also to switch to Lr Classic, but I doubt that.

If, however, you have Lr Classic, you just installed Lr (because that's included, but not very useful with the 20Gb of cloud storage you get with the Photographer Plan). In that case you simply uninstall Lr and install Lr Classic using the Adobe Cloud app.

You can Cancel your current plan and IIRC if it is within the first 14 days at no cost to you, and then subscribe to the Photographer plan that includes both LR, PS and LR CC Mobile for mobile devices.

Manage your Creative Cloud membership

You will need to download the Creative Cloud Desktop App and install LR Classic CC and PS from that app.

I will also put in a request for a STAFF member to look at and possibly help you with changing the plan.

What happens when I cancel?

Do I get a refund?

Annual subscription (paid monthly)

If you cancel within 14 days of your order, you will receive a full refund.

If you cancel after 14 days, your service will continue until the end of that month’s billing period, and you’ll be charged an early termination fee of 50% of your remaining contract obligation. For example, if you have 5 months of your contract left when you cancel and you pay $20/month, you’d pay 50% of the $100 remaining balance = $50 early termination fee.

Annual subscription (prepaid)

If you cancel within 14 days of your order, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after 14 days, your payment is non-refundable and your service will continue until the end of your contracted term.

Month-to-month subscription

If you cancel within 14 days of your order, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after 14 days, your payment is non-refundable and your service will continue until the end of that month’s billing period.

NOTE:

The refund only applies for 14 days after the original purchase, not for subsequent renewals.

So cancel the subscription. You won’t get charged and you can immediately order the correct plan. There’s no penalty doing so.

Sorry what do you mean when you say, "I tried everything that was suggested, Except Canceling the plan".

Well if you haven't tried canceling the plan then you haven't tried everything.

I tried to cancel the subscription. I can't get to the window which allows me to do this.  I've followed all the instructions that I received and have been in all the help pages.  I know what to do but when I click Manage Plan in my Adobe ID, I just get my payment information.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Just for your knowledge.

With the Photographers plan subscription you can also install LR CC, Cloud Centric Desktop Computer version, on your computer if you like. But you will still be limited to the 20GB of cloud storage. And since LR CC uploads the Full image files you sync with it you could run out of storage space quickly.

If you sync collections of images from LR Classic what gets uploaded are just Smart Previews which are usually much smaller than the full image file.
