Attempting to reinstall LR 5.7.1 getting error 1714

A while ago my old version of LR started to hang every time I opened it. I tried a repair, then a reinstall, but I keep getting stuck on a message giving error 1714 and saying that an older version of LR 5.7.1 64 bit cannot be removed.

I have other raw converters I can use, but rather like LR, so would like to be able to get it working again.

This error message usually relates to the presence of files associated with a previous installation that wasn't removed using the provided installer/uninstaller.  You could try the CC Cleaner tool to see if if finds the offending files: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

I was a bit sceptical, as none of the entried mentioned lightroom and the log showed a whole heap of errors, but it seems to have done the trick and I have lightroom back!
