Does anyone know if it's possible to play an MP3 file bundled in your app in the native player on iOS and Android?  If so . is it also possible for the player to show the MP3's embedded artwork?

It should be possible but you might have to move the file around and stick it in the correct folder.

Artwork must be either a metadata (id3 for local files) or get it from a server. If you are building a music player I would recommend getting the Artist and album from your metadata and then using the last.fm open api to get the artwork. It is the easiest way I found.
