Are you on Vista? If so, try turning off the Aero interface. ALso, there
is another way just to set Fireworks to run without Aero, but as I am
still on XP, I can't recall the answer. YOu can search the forum for it

I searched the forum but didn't find any info. How do I turn Aero off? This is becoming a real pain!
It should hopefully be in the settings tab
Am I supposed to be looking in th eprogram? I don't see settings anywhere. Sorry to be a bother, but can you give me more info?
Thank you so much, that did the trick! Have a great day!

Another trick when dealing with small detailed graphics is to change your mouse sensitivity.
I'm not sure about Vista, but in XP it's in control panel under mouse. You can set it so you need to drag the mouse a few inches just to make the cursor move a few pixels on the screen. It makes dealing with pixel sensitive stuff a lot easier.
