How do I stop text losing formatting when resetting the position?

What I'm doing and what's going wrong:

If I want to center a text layer on screen, I set paragraph to center aligned and reset the position to center it. If there are any combinations of fonts, scales, kerning etc within the same text layer, all formatting is lost when I click position reset and all text changes to whatever the first characters settings are. So stuck with eyeballing text positions for now.

Working in Premiere Pro cc 12.0.1 Build 69

But this problem has been there since the new text tool was introduced.

Does anyone experience this and have any fixes I could try please?

Thanks kindly.

Essential Graphics? How are you "resetting"? Have you tried the Align options rather than align under text?
