Fall Creator Update Issue?

Hello,

Been using Photoshop from CC for several years now without fail. The last few times I've tried to use photoshop, it freezes on open, or as soon as I open a file and try to do anything, it freezes. I have tried downgrading to 19.0.1, and even back to 2017 and still doing it. No hardware has changed. I believe it is due to the Fall Creator's update but cannot find a workaround.

I've tried resetting preferences, booting into safe mode - STILL crashed, reinstall and uninstalled, re-registered DLLs and checked for driver updates on Intel's site.

FWIW - other adobe apps appear to be fine, InDesign is giving me no trouble.

I see that you are not using the latest version of Photoshop which is 19.1.3. Please update to the latest version and let us know if that helps. Refer Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date

Thanks, I had done the update in CC but it seemed to stick at .2, I just updated to .3 and will look up that newer driver on Dell. I tried the one from the intel site and it wouldn't run, saying I already have a newer version.

I would recommend that you contact the GPU manufacturer and get the correct/updated drivers installed. Did the update to Ps 19.1.3 helped fixing the freezing problem?

My main issue is that this has been working fine and it seems to tie back to fall creator update as nothing else was changed. Sadly it's past the 10 day rollback so I am stuck doing a reinstall if I need to.

I did update to 19.1.3 and that didn't help. I do not understand how the GPU driver changed anything since nothing was updated or changed to the PC. I will reinstall windows and prevent the fall update as that seems to be the only fix.

The update doesn't explain why it isn't working though. I reinstalled all my programs, did updates, and rebooted and it's working fine. What would cause it to suddenly stop working like it did? It's very frustrating because now I have to resetup the entire computer.

OS updates often affect the API's of applications that causes crash/freeze and other unexpected issues,

Since you have installed the OS and have updated it, that might've improved/resolve the issue.
