When I cleaned my touch-pad yesterday i clicked on something.
After that I was still in normal screen.
But the left tool-bar and the right function-section was gone.
Like in full-screen.
But it was — not — full-screen.
So I figured i could hover over the left border of the screen.
And the tool-bar came in.
Likewise the functions on right side.
That was actually pretty cool.
Because you have an undisturbed view on the art.
But I was — not — sure how I did it.
And found out to click on Window -> Workplace -> Essentials
.
And the bars came back in fully.
Now I want perhaps the auto-hiding back.
I could — not — find it in the Webs.
How is that done?
Edit: Found out that it is done manually by pressing Tab
.
Pressing the Tab key (without the Type tool and an insertion point) hides your Panels. Then when you hover over the edge of the screen, the panel dock reappears so you can use it.
Tab is a toggle.
Shift + tab leave the toolbar on the left.

You're welcome, Trncfrmcn. It's a great feature, especially for small screens, but it really confuses people when they discover it accidentally!
