Persistent plugin to monitor pixel change of layers

Hi, all,

I want to implement a persistent plugin that it will not be unloaded after execution to periodically check the pixels change in layers. Is this possible? I know there is a way to make the plugin persistent, and what I currently do is to implement a persistent export plugin and launch a background thread to periodically check the pixels change. However, the ExportRecord will not be updated anymore after plugin finished to execute. And, I don't find a way to fetch the pixel data. Could anybody help to tell the right direction to do this?
