why can't your main application not simple load the XML, parse it and display it??
Yes, Lee's suggestion would be the best solution. Create a component that takes the xml, builds the book display and shows it.
It IS possible to compile mxml on the fly, but that is not the way to go with this issue.
The book would be created using Flex (in mxml). It is very complicated, not just simple xml. So, instead of parsing/rendering xml, I just want to render mxml directly.
Thanks Tracy. I'd like to ask question on your reply.
"It is possible to compile mxml on the fly,"
- how do we accomplish this?
"but that is not the way to go with this issue."
- if I can compile the book mxml on the fly, and run it within my application, I don't need to create a compont and parse xml (book mxml). Isn't this true? why can't this this option be my solution??
You can compile MXML "on the fly" using the web tier compiler. You will need to use LiveCycle Data Services. You deploy your mxml files to the server and when accessed via a browser the web tier compiler will convert them into a SWF.
