Hi,

My son is using animate to create animations in the style of BFDI and InAnimate Insanity. He's created characters using layers in the hope that further down the process it would be easier to animate. Unfortunately he's just found out that he needs toconvert his charaters to symbols to animate them easily. When he does this some of the detail of his characters is lost ( sharp edges become round, line ends are round when they where flat). We've also tried to paste each layer into a single layer before converting to a symbol but the cut and paste loses detail too.

Can anyone help?

yes we can help but might need a little more info or what would be best is if you could upload the FLA somewhere with his artwork. If not all of the artwork, just a small sample (copy/paste to new document).

Going by your description, what exact tool did he use to draw the characters? Brush? Pencil? Shapes with not outlines? Given the style references he is using black outlines. Did he use the variable width brush by any chance? I suspect that might be the issue; strokes inside a symbol and when
