    Is this possible with Fireworks?

      Hi guys,

Is there a way that on a normal canvas, you can make it so that the colour at the bottom is say white, and then it sort of fades into say red as you move upwards. Can you do these sort of effects on Fireworks. If so, how?

      Thanks!

          Hi Jack,

No, a canvas can only be transparent or a solid colour. However it is a very
simple/quick to create the effect you describe by dragging a layer onto the
canvas and giving it a gradient fill.

If you need more just shout :-)

            Hi Pete,

thanks for the reply. If you get some time, could you explain what you mean, I'm quite new to Fireworks and am unfamiliar with layers and the grading effect that you mention.

            Thanks!

select the rectangle tool from the tools menu on the left and drag out a
rectangle on your canvas, you can finalise the size in the Property
Inspector. Then fill it with a linear gradient. I will try and give a more
detailed instruction later, but have to go out for a while.
