adobe_licutil constantly consuming 90%+ CPU even after closing lightroom

Hello,

I'm using Adobe Lightroom Classic CC on macOS High Sierra (10.13.5). I notice fast battery drainage that persists even after closing Lightroom. Then I found that there is a process "adobe_licutil" that constantly consumes 90-98% of my CPU. It seems that process is spawned from Lightroom, but won't quit after I quit the program. My only solution so far is to remember to manually force quit that process after I close Lightroom. What is the problem here, and what should I do? It's really annoying when I forget to force quit the process and then lose half of my battery in an hour.

Thank you

The Facebook APIs have changed recently, although I'm not aware of any reason this would cause the license utility to misbehave. Can you try signing out again then log in via your Adobe account rather than Facebook.

The "adobe_licutil" is used for license checking, and should stop after the application is closed. Some have reported that the issue you describe can be resolved by signing out of Lightroom (Help menu) then back in again. Others have found that resetting preference file helps. See method 1 in below linked document for instructions on resting Lightroom preferences.

I tried both of those steps but the process still lives. I'm not sure if this is relevant but I use facebook to sign in
