Retrieve disappeared comments from files diligently saved on the Adobe Cloud?

Having worked a very long time commenting a document and continuously and meticulously saving it on the Adobe Cloud (a pop-up that read "File saved" and even "Virusscanning" assured me everything was ok) a considerable amount of the comments were gone when I reopened the Acrobat Reader.

All comments were made by me, i.e. with the same Adobe log-in, even though from different devices (MacBook Pro and an iPad). As I recall it the comments missing had another name on the comments. I have opened the Comments panel and been able to confirm that there are two different names. Having used the

"All comments" and "All authors"-filter the missing comments still do not show.

Having thus watched how the Acrobat Reader at numerous occasions during my work confirmed that the file with all my comments was saved, it still seems obvious that it was not.

Questions:

- What happened?

- Is the "save file to the Cloud" not working properly?

- Is there something else to saving the file to the Cloud that is necessary but not mentioned on the App?

- Does Adobe have any back-up files?

- If so, how do I get them?

You mention that you were working on two devices. Did you, absolutely religiously, close it on one device before opening it on the other? (Not just save, close) Or is it just possible it was open on both at once?

Well, religiously is a big word… What do you mean by ”close”? I might have had the App open, i.e. open in the background together with a lot of other programs, like Mail, Pages and more, but definitely not working on it on the Mac, whilst working on the iPad,

I would appreciate it could you elaborate somewhat on this!

Thanks

Well, it seems to me it goes like this.

Open the document on device A. Comment "Apple". Save.

Open the document on device B. It will have comment "Apple". Add comment "Beetle". Save.

On device A where the document was open, the file only has comment "Apple". Add comment "Cobra". Save.

On device B where the document was open, the file has comments "Apple" and "Beetle" but not "Cobra". Add comment "Dingo". Save.

On device A where the document was stilll open, the file only has comments Apple and Cobra, but not Beetle and Dingo. Add comment "Elephant". Save

Now, you've added comments Apple, Beetle, Cobra, Dingo and Elephant. But the file you just saved doesn't have Beetle or Dingo in it. You have lost them unless you save again on device B. If you do that you'll lose Cobra and Elephant.

You can see how it goes. Acrobat and Acrobat Reader are *not* multi editing apps because they work with a local copy. That is what I mean by being religious about closing.

Thank you very much for your elucidatory answer. And yes, that is most certainly what I have been doing, believing in fact, that they were multi editing apps.
