Hi,1 person found this helpful
You can only get information about all open windows of your AIR application. AIR does not support getting a list of all open windows on the desktop.
Thanks anirudhs. I had a feeling this was the case. It just seemed odd that the built-in function calls like orderToBack() and orderToFront actually put the AIR windows behind or in front of all the windows on the desktop. Somehow AIR is finding the list of open windows on the desktop. I just didnt know if there was some way to access AIR's way of finding the windows. Guess it must be a protected function. Thanks!
Guess it must be a protected function.
The AIR runtime has direct access to the underlying Windows or Mac system APIs, which are completely abstracted by the AIR APIs. There is no necessary correspondence between the two.
Thanks for the reply. I am not quite sure what you mean though. If AIR runtime has direct access to the Windows and Mac, how can I access the desktop window list from AIR? Sorry if I dont understand what you are getting at.
Just because the AIR runtime has such access doesn't mean it exposes it to AIR programs. Your program runs inside the AIR runtime's internal sandbox: you don't get any access it doesn't explicitly provide.1 person found this helpful
Thanks for the explanation.
