I don't think so, but I'm not sure about it. If your app is running from the CD, it would be difficult to update unless you are copying files to your hard drive first, and the CD was directed to launch a file on the hard drive. I thought we should open some discussions here on Shu. It fills a gap for us that Adobe needs to fill. Some clients like their products to run directly off the CD.
We look forward to any future support of AIR running from CD to support our customers requests.
Adobe currently does not support the option to run an application or the AIR runtime from a CD without installation. Adobe will explore supporting the type of use cases that do not require installation of the AIR application for future releases. Your feedback on how you would expect that to work would be great for us to hear.
As far as redistribution of the Adobe AIR runtime for use without installation, Adobe does not permit the uninstalled use of Adobe AIR (for example, on a CD) or the distribution of Adobe AIR for purposes of uninstalled use. Adobe does not encourage the use of any software that promotes a prohibited use of Adobe AIR or that relies on undocumented capabilities.
Please review the FAQ on the distribution site for details about distribution and use scenarios that Adobe does not permit or encourage.
