Let me preface this with I am a Microsoft Excel MVP. I know when Excel is open and when it is not. But the installer says it is open and won't install.?

check your activity monitor or task manager for any non-os ms programs running.

Didnt have excel open, but went into task manager and excel was running in the background 4 times, so ended task on all four and acrobat installed correctly. Hope this helps.

Yes, that's why I asked for the reboot. Anytime you have problems like that, a reboot cleans all. It is good practice anyhow to reboot before and after installing programs as that creates a clean environment.

Excel did not close properly the last time you started it... If you can afford, reboot.

I was having the same issue, but followed what gust77740527 said and I found Excel running in the background also! Fixed my issue - thanks Gus!
