    Flash Applications

I am a software developer totally new to Flash and I'm trying to figure out the best way to begin learning Flash from a software developer's point of view. In other words, I'm not so much going to be creating animations as much as a complex software interface. Can someone recommend a good place to start? Maybe a book or a web site forum?

I suggest you start with Colin Moock's books on ActionScript. He is the ultimate authority on ActionScript, and is also a good writer and teacher. His books are mainly geared toward someone like you who (I assume) is familiar with OOP principles, but doesn't know ActionScript, but the books are also carefully balanced to be comprehensible to newcomers. A solid understanding of ActionScript is a definite place to start. After that, you may be able to get by with more forums such as this one and actionsript.org
