1. Re: swapping text, it must be easier
JoeDaSilva Feb 7, 2008 10:45 AM (in response to vatodelaville)Are you trying to make the copy in your page an image? If so then you're going about web design all together incorrectly. If you have stylized text that you want to change frequently/dynamically, then Flash would be a much better tool to use. -

Newsgroup_User Feb 8, 2008 6:17 AM (in response to vatodelaville)Or, considering that Flash is nearly as troublesome as using images for
text, there are other ways to go about this that work well and are both
exposed to search engines, and friendly to those using accessible devices.

3. Re: swapping text, it must be easier
Kyl3thedarkn Feb 10, 2008 12:29 PM (in response to vatodelaville)I recently did this for a school project. What I did was make a png in fireworks of the image I wanted with editable text. Then I exported the image as a jpg into the images folder in my root folder. Then I changed the text and did the same thing so I had like 5 swap images with different text. Then I used dreamweaver to make hotspots and swap images. -

If you open that FW generated html page in a browser and increase the
font size, what happens to your design?

Kyl3thedarkn Feb 10, 2008 1:54 PM (in response to Newsgroup_User)I dont even use fireworks to make a html file. I just use dreamweaver to insert the image onto the page and then make hotspots and swap images. -

Good answer! :-) Your post was not clear on how you were generating your
html.

It works but to edit the text I need to go through adobe illustrator and save as a jpg, it is a pain. Is there a way to use text files like swapped image files? When I go over a thumb a big swapped image comes up and new text comes up. It seems like a basic function that I have completely missed.
thanks
Do you maybe want layers (of text), where you can turn the visibility on and off? I searched for "div layer visibility toggle" and this page looked like it might possibly be useful: http://blog.movalog.com/a/javascript-toggle-visibility/
