I have no idea why this happens, I have shut down the computer several times, and there really cannot be any application that has it opened.
I have now made a new catalog, but I'm not still able to open the older catalog, still the same reason. Why this happens, what application could this be? And how can I relaunch the older catalog OR bring the back ups to the new catalog?

Sorry that you're getting an error message while opening your catalog in Lightroom. Which version of Lightroom are you using?
Also, could you please take a look at this article Lightroom catalog cannot be opened ​and let us know if that helps?
