Hello,

I moved catalogs from a computer running Windows 8 to a computer running windows 10 and I can’t open my catalogs.

Here is the error message that Lightroom displays:

“ Ligthroom can’t use the catalog named “Lightroom photos xxxx” because it is not recordable and can’t be opened. Access rights are probably insufficient or other application Lightroom uses the catalog. Try to solve the problem or select another catalog.”

I tried to select another catalog and that does not work either. I specify that I am administrator of my computer.

If I drop the catalog on the desktop I can open it normally. Then I save the catalog on another disk but when I want to open the catalog again from this location it does not work and Lightroom displays the same error message.

Thank you for your help.

Thierry

You have placed it in a folder that your username doesn't have Write Permissions to. Change the permissions on that folder to Full access for your username or move the catalog file to a folder your username does have full access to.

LR needs full read/write privileges at the location where you copy the catalog to.

On the desktop, you have these privileges. This is why it works from there.

At the target location, right click on the parent folder where you plan to copy the LR catalog to and make sure to set the security setting that you user account has full access privileges or is the owner of the folder and its contents.
