Hello All,

I'm on a MAC and am able to print 10 copies at a time to a big production Konica printer. Up until about a month ago I was able to print 100 copies at a time, but this started being a problem. Acrobat freezes every time I try to print 100 copies. Any suggestions are appreciated.

You may wish to check your printer drivers and whether Konica has any updates. For multiple copies, Acrobat typically passes the copy count to the device itself and the device delivers on producing multiple copies. This is especially true for PostScript devices (make sure you select PostScript over PCL or any other page description languages).

Thanks for the reply Dov, would Acrobat crash because of a PCL driver?

A freeze is not a crash. Some program internals may wait for an event to happen that never happens or gets send.

"Some program internals may wait for an event to happen that never happens", isn't that an issue on the program side, not the printer? Freeze, crash, the program stops responding and has to be forced closed.

Yes and no. The cause may be the printer driver (which is external to Acrobat) or a programming error (which is internal to Acrobat). Freezing situations are much more difficult to debug.

Ok, I will try the PS driver install and update the post whether it worked or not. Probably won't be until Monday though.

Thanks for the response and have a great weekend.

Hey FrankMerc,

In addition to the previous conversation, have you started experiencing this problem with the latest patch released?

Could you please confirm the exact version of the application you are working on? Open Acrobat>Help>About Acrobat DC

Regards,

Akanchha

Sorry for the delayed response, but it was indeed the PS driver that fixed this. Thanks for your help!

100 copies on a well configured printer means sending the command "PRINT THIS PAGES" x 100. The pages are send once to the printer and the printer prints 100 copies. If that does not work you have either an ill configured printer driver or a printer designed for small quantity prints only.

What exact model printer is it. As mentioned above it sound strange. A work around may be to print 100 copies of page one turn the stack manually and print 100 copies of page 2. If the file is very large/complex it could be a memory issue with your printer, but most Konica printers I have used never have that problem.
