Using batch action to save data set as PDF not working

I have an .ai file that I need to save as a PDF multiple times using a data set of addresses and names. I’ve set everything up and recorded the action to save as PDF, but when I run the batch action, the files are not being saved as .pdf but rather called “file” as the type. I’ve followed the instructions on adobe for doing this perfectly but not sure where the problem lies. In the batch action window Ive chosen “data set” as my source but the destination dropdown will only allow me to choose None. So, I had to click on override save as to choose my folder destination. Can someone please help? Thanks!

Jessica, there was a similar problem mentioned a few days ago.

Rename the files in Bridge could be a workaround.

I just tried the batch rename in Bridge solution like you suggested, changed the new extension under filenames to “.pdf” but then nothing happened. Am I doing this correctly?

I did a batch save as PDF and got no extension.

This is how my Bridge Batch Rename preview looks like. Clicking Rename added the extension.

Yep, I did this - but after clicking rename, went back to the output folder and all the files were still “file” type rather than PDF files

Did you rename them in the same folder?

Yes, I tried that first, renaming to same folder. I then tried renaming to a separate folder, which also did nothing.

Strange, just to make sure, did you select all the files before Batch rename?

Otherwise you may have to use another renaming utility.
