It's always wisest to wait for adopting a new version of your OS and a new version of a heavy app like an NLE until others have done the crash/bug testing for you ... so asking here is rather wise of you.
That said ... we seem to be at the early stage where a few have had issues and a few others run fine. Ergo, inconclusive.
As to the next version ... last year, they did the preview at IBC and drop at MAX ... so that might be possible here. Or, if they're still having issues, it could be still a few weeks after MAX ... and none of us will know until it 'drops'.
I'll be a TA at MAX again in what, two weeks or a bit less. So we'll all find out together. I found they'd "dropped" last year walking down the hallway in-between sessions at MAX.
Hi Ann, im glad you added this link to the adobe article, because I wanted to ask about using Metal opposed to Open CL. I have yet to see a performance increase using metal with Premiere Pro. I have a iMac Pro 10 Core Vega 64 graphics and 128 gig ram an when I use open cl I get great performance and my timeline render line is yellow, but with Metal I get choppy performance and my timeline render line is red. I thought Metal was suppose to offer a little better performance? Can you offer any input on this?
I'm on PC, but I've read through some of Apple's rationale for this ... they're dumping OpenCl for Metal for AMD GPUs in the OS so ... um ... that's what's happening.
May or may not be your choice but, well, ... it's their choice that seems to matter here. At least to them that is.
