Am i able to install InDesign 2018 and still keep InDesign 2017 in place, or will it automatically remove 2017.

B oz, you can choose if the previous version of InDesign CC is kept on the computer.  For more information on how to manage the update options see  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/update-app.html.
