    Align Objects

The help file is apparently worthless to me. I want to align two objects, but I want one of them to stay put and the other to move. Flash doesn't work like Illustrator. (select all objects, select master object again, click align center - all objects except master move.) Flash doesn't work like the 4.6 trillion other drawing tools I've used. (select each object, and the last object selected is the master - all objects except master move).

I have a line and an oval. No matter which combination of select-first, select-last, whatever I do, Flash ALWAYS moves the line. However, if I have two rectangles, Flash ALWAYS moves both.

      What am I missing here?

If -- just for example -- you're aligning right in the Align panel and
the "To stage" is button is deselected, then the right-most object will stay
put, while the left-most object will move right to meet it. If you're
aligning top, the top-most object will stay put, while the lower upject will
move up to meet it. And so on.

That sounds like a cool feature.

Heh. My Illustrator buddies call me crazy, but I really do prefer to
draw in Flash. To each his own, of course -- but in any case, experiment
with the "To stage" button to understand the difference that occurs when
it's selected versus deselected. And again, keep in mind that the left-,
right-, etc.-most object is the "master" object when aligning in that
          direction.
