Issue with loading Photos on Adobe Photoshop Elements 19

When loading a selected photo from iMac photos using the 'Open' facility in Adobe Photoshop Elements 19 the selected photo arrives with a number of diagonal orange stripes down the left short edge of landscape photo or the bottom edge of a portrait photo.  Does anyone have an idea as to why and how to remove them?  I've recently upgraded from Elements 14 to 19 - one of the reasons I did this was because these lines began appearing around 1 November 18.  I haven't had the problem before and have been using Elements 14 for 3 years.  It's disappointing to see the same issue with Elements 19!  Interestingly if I 'copy and paste' a selected photo from IMac photos directly into Elements 14/19 there are no lines.
