JavaScript won't open links in new tab

I've been searching for a way to do this for a while. I have a large pdf file with many links and want these links to open in new windows for people. I've found several tutorials on how to use Javascript to do this in acrobat pro, however, it doesn't work. I've tried a few different ways. Is there a way to get this to work for all browsers?
