notWanted = "aeiouwy" -- CUSTOMIZE THIS SET OF CHARACTERS
the keyDownScript = \
"if ""E¬Wanted"E&" contains the key then stopEvent"
thanks james that works exactly how i wanted it.
Is there a way to block other keys like the Windows Start key, Control, Alt?
are you wanting to lock the whole keyboard, a small subset of the keys or a large subset of the keys, like 90% of them?... which keys do you want to allow?.. maybe that list is much smaller than the list of keys you don't want to allow?...
Edit: didn't notice you were a different poster than the original poster...
How about disabling the QUOTE key - that is the shifted one " ?
I added an additional test to the keydownscript to test for keyCode = 39 but that kills both the single and double quote:
the keydownscript = "if ""E¬Wanted"E& contains the key OR the keyCode = 39 then stopEvent"
I am trying to stop my assistants from entering the " in a multiple choice question because it messages up the list I am using to store them. Instead I want them to use the single '
How can I stop the " but allow ' ?
I'm stumped, can someone please help - thank you!
I'm surprised that no one has figured this out before now. I was kind of stumped when I got the same key code = 39 for the shifted " and the lower case '. Anyhow, I figured it out myself and figured I would report here in case anyone else gets stumped. I first tried: the key = " " " but you can't put a " inside two other '"s - duh, I probably should have known that. Then after unsuccessfully trying once before, I saw in my Lingo Dictionary that you can test for the key = RETURN and then was able to get the key = QUOTE to work. Seems like it could come in handy to someone, cheers!
