AutoCad export pdf will not fully open and/or not be useable

Im using a Mac with Mojave 10.14 and trying to open a 3.2mb pdf in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. The pdf is (most likely) an output from Cad as it's a building layout. Whenever I select the file, small portions of the pdf will display immediately and only after 30-40 seconds will the entire image (layout) show up. If I try to move around the screen/enlarge/shrink (etc), everything freezes and I get 20-30 seconds of the spinning wheel.

This happens frequently with design files that were created on Autocad. Is there any known compatibility issue?

Hi erich,

As per the issue description mentioned above, you are facing issue when viewing a pdf file in Acrobat, is that correct?

Could you check if "show larger images" option is checked under Edit > preferences > display? If not, try enabling it, relaunch Acrobat and check.

Also, check if an update is available for Acrobat using "Check for updates" option under "Help" menu,  You may also download updates from here: Adobe software and product updates

Reboot the machine after installing update and try again.

Thanks for the response and sorry for the 4 months of not following-up.

The 'Large files' box is checked and I am up to date. The problem persists and I just uploaded an example file:

When I open this file, I can navigate just fine until the last page displays. Once the last page displays, I get the spinning wheel and have to force quit (i've tried giving it up to 5 minutes and no change). I cannot export the file or anything.

No problems with other large files, no matter the size, # of pages, pictures, etc. I feel it is generally confined to 'layout' files that display hundreds of small objects that were most likely created in AutoCAD and exported via PDF.

I have no need to edit these files or alter in any way, I just want to be able to open and view.
