3D Layers positioning

I have all my layers set to a 3D layer & I'm trying to position them with the z position to have some further back into space & some forward. But when I do that in the top view when having my 2 views open, in the top view it shows them moved around but in the normal view they haven't moved & are still on the same plane. Not sure how to fix this. Saw something about not using layer styles & I got rid of them & its still not working.

in the main comp, does the view set to Active camera?
