    DreamWeaver cS4 installation

    ChuckRaine
I downloaded the trial version of DreamWeaver (CS4). Installation seemed to go well untll the end when a popup with something like "checking system.." came up then the following message "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance." There was no error code. OS is Vista Ultimate 32 bit SP1. Tried with firewall off, Did regsvr32 jscript.dll and regsvr32 vbscript. Rebooted twice. Nothing seems to get me past this point. Adobe tech support is closed for the weekend. Can anyone help? I don't think I want to buy this thing if I can't even get the trial version installed. Chuck

Thanks loads. I failed to mention the computer is a Lenovo 3000 K series desktop. Loaded on this computer are MS Office 2007 with MS Publisher (currently being used for Web pyblishing) and Dragon Naturally Speaking (among others) I have heard of conflcts with some MS office products but I seem not to have those. Still working on CS4 installation problem. Have now installed CS4 cleanup utility and windows installer cleanup utility even though there was no indication of CS4 or Dreamweaver on the program list in Control Panel. CS4 cleanup utility indicates no previous installations. I'm really stuck.

I got through to support. Placing this post in case someone else has this problem and cannot get to support.
                1. Create a new user with administrator privileges
                2. Download and extract CS4 root C drive
                3. If the set up does not start automatically, right click setup.exe. Run as administrator. It is in the Adobe CS4,Dreamweaver, AbobeCS4 folder.

                Runs like a charm.

Nothing was working for me. I tried almost every solution that I could find including the CS4 Cleanup and creating a new Admin account. I entered a support ticket, but was just getting the same answers about the CS4 Cleanup. I stumbled on a different solution in the User to User Forums - http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6c696 Someone posted something about deleting Registry entries. I tried it and it worked. I know that it's risky business to be playing with the registry, and I would only recommend it if you find that you also have the .NET UserAgent entries in your registry. Make sure that you know what you're doing, and make a backup of the registry first. This worked for me and I was finally able to install. I just thought that I should mention it in case someone else is looking for a solution to this in the future.

I'm curious, what keys did you delete? I have the same .NET CLR keys as well.

                      Hi Murry,

Thanks a lot. I was having the same problem running dreamweaver on Acer Extensa 5620Z. I downloaded the update from the link you provided http://www.egistec.com/oem-acer001/program-update.html and everything is working fine.

                      Bless you, brother.
