when in build there is an option to add files (photos) but how to access from the menu?

I think you are referring to files added to the disk as ROM content. You cannot access these when playing the disk. They are accessed on a computer.

To play photos as part of the disk, they must be authored onto the disk as an Encore slideshow, or by making them into a video prior to bringing them into Encore.
