overlay an image (cross) onto a sphere so that it loos 3d.

Using Adobe Photoshop cs6 and I wish to place a cross on a sphere and make it look like it is part of the sphere.  Is this doable?  Thanks.

The Spherize filter should do the trick. Make a round selection the same size as your sphere and apply it to the cross layer
