    basic loading question(s)

    Level 7
      Hello.

Ive been teaching myself flash (from a course I bought) and have only made
one flash element so far - so still clueless, so please excuse me if this is
something I should be able to find easily,.

Ive managed to get the flash into an html page, uploaded and actually
working. Im using Flash CS3 and also dreamweaver CS3.

My question is - Im concerned about using Flash on sites and visitors not
having flash installed for some reason, and just getting a blank space.
How difficult is it to be able to present a static image if the visitor cant
do Flash? How would I go about that?

Also, Ive previewed my page with Flash element in both FF and IE. Ive
noticed that in IE, just before the flash file plays, you see the little
image icon (the little blue and red square - img placeholder or something)
in FF you dont (which is much preferrable). Is there anyway to get rid of
      it in IE?

      Any help would be appreciated
      Fiona

google SWFObject, you can place your image in the alternate content. Your second problem, I don't know what you're talking about. Can you provide a screen shot.

            Thankyou for your help.
Ill try and take a screen shot - dont know if I can take it fast enough
            though.

As the page is loading, and just before the flash content comes in, you see
a little square image placement holder icon in the spot where the flash is
loading. It just looks so much smoother in FF without the little
            placeholding graphic.

            Regards

Yea, I've never seen that before so I'm not sure what you're talking about. How about just posting a link to the site.
