You need to change the windowmode to transparent for the flash. So, in the flash object HTML add the following tag:
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
and edit the embed tag to include:
Once you do this, the Flash object will be rendered as a transparent object, which is a fancy way of saying "anything in the SWF that doesn't have content (IE is showing only the stage area) will be rendered transparent."
Thanks rritchey, I'll give it a shot now. So, is there anyway to preview how it will look without having to publish and place the swf into the html? :-)
considering your background image is in the HTML, then no there is no way to preview without putting the SWF in the HTML
Is the wmode="transparent" tag cross browser complient/friendly? I would assume so since It's controlled by the flash engine?
I believe it works cross-browser, yes. I have yet to find a browser that doesn't support it anyways. ( I test in IE 5.5, IE 6, IE 7, FF 2, Opera 9, Safari PC Beta 3, then go over to the Mac and test in IE, FF, and Safari )
