    Template Shifting

    TomJGreen Level 1
      Hi everyone,

      I really hope someone can help out with this, because it's doing my head in.

      I'm running my site from a template, and even though it's only by a few pixels, when you go from the home page to 'browse' page, the title and menu shift out slightly.

      I know it's not much, but I'd rather nip it in the bud before I build the rest of the site.

      Cheers!

          You have problems on the pages -

          <!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/Gallery Template Theta.dwt"
          codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
          <script type="text/javascript">
          <!--

          That's how both pages begin. No Doctype, no <html>, no <head>, no </head>,
          no <body>. Dreamweaver should be shouting at you. This is worth fixing as
          I'm surprised you can even work on these pages in DW.

          Can you show us the code on the Template page, please?

            Hi,

            No problem. Actually, DW doesn't say there are any errors, which is strange.

            Please find the code attached.

              Hi,

              I've added in the <html>, <head>, and <body tags and their closers, but even then, everything still nudges out with each page.

              Any ideas?

              Cheers!

                  I'm worried about systemic problems with your Dreamweaver. By rights, it
                  should throw a flurry of errors when you try to edit those pages. You say
                  it's not. That's a problem in itself.

                  Let's see what you have done, please.

                    Can anyone figure this out?

                    I've been traling through the code and I'm not a single bit closer to figuring out what's wrong.

                        Hi,

                        Sorry about that. I can't seem to post it here for some strange reason, but the code is the same as the above but with the <html> and <body> tags added.

                        I really appreciate any help I can get on this.

                        Warm regards,

                              Hi,

                              Thanks to everyone for looking into it, but I've just went back and redone the template (correctly this time). Much easier than trying to fix the garbled code.

                              Cheers,

                                Yes. That's the right approach. The only way it could have gotten so badly
                                mangled is if you were hacking in the code. Please avoid doing that until
                                you better understand the consequences!
