    sohjunhao
whenever i save files as .png,
a pop up will show "could not complete my request. an internal error has occurred."

      why is this so?

Usually this happens with a particular file - not all png files.
          Could you give more details?
          OS?
          FW version?

What are the dimensions of the image you are saving? Are you saving to a
              networked drive?

Huh? Fireworks doesn't do print sizes. When I say dimensions, I'm asking
for how many pixels wide and tall it is.

In Term 3, my school installed macromedia suite 8 on our computers and since using Fireworks I have also had the problem where some students are not able to save their Fireworks file as a .png due to an internal error.

I had a quick search of this forum to see if I could find a reason and solution but did not find one.

I therefore debugged the problem myself and have come up with the error relating to the way in which new files are created and the dimensions of the document.

If I use Create New\Fireworks File from the introduction screen, enter the dimensions 24cm by 12cm and try to save it as a .png file I get the error “Could not complete your request. An internal error occurred.” The size in the properties panel is now 681 by 341 pixels.

If I use the File menu and select New, enter the dimensions in exactly the same way and then select save. There is no error and the dimensions in the properties panel is 680 by 340 pixels.

This appears to be a bug to me therefore all I can advise is never use the front Fireworks introduction screen for new files.

                    Regards
