no reason other than convention. i like code in the top layer because flash opens to the top layer and most of my flash work is with code.
So ... it is really just a matter of preference in your opinion? There is no right or wrong way?
I see your point about flash opening up to the top layer - totally makes sense.
And I have never once had a problem with bottom up or top down publishing. And the few times I have seen issues here it seems there is more a problem of folks trying to be too tricky for their own good or an incomplete understanding of how Flash works – not an issue with the publishing order.
Also I often have more than one layer for code. Functions on one, regular code on another, and so forth. And like kglad most of what I do is code so it is nice to have it on top.
correct, there is no right or wrong.
there are some things that make good sense like trying to aggregate all code in one or a limited number of easy to find locations but that's not much different that adding comments to your code: it's not right or wrong. it's just is good coding practice.
