if you gave your button an instance name of mybutton and had a movieclip on stage with an instance name movieclip, then your code would be:
but now where do I put that code? on the timeline? on the button? inside the button, on the roll-state? on the movieclip, inside the button, on the roll-state?
I tried to put it on the timeline...didn't work...
Right now, I currently have empty movieclips on stage, inside the buttons, in the roll-states...
(I set up the instance names for the btns & mcs)
Is there something else I'm missing?
a button on stage with instance name mybutton.
a movieclip on stage with instance name movieclip.
the code on a frame on the main timeline.
I guess the answer is, that you can't load an external jpg from inside a button? (like you can do when the jpg is embedded in your FLA)......it has to be on the main stage & timeline...?
If that's the case, then so be it...but it doesn't seem like the most efficient way, cuz now I'm going to have to take out all the movieclips from inside my buttons, and dump the movieclips onto the main stage...all over the place...
no, you can't access movieclips/buttons inside buttons.
you can however access movieclips/buttons inside movieclips. if it helps you could convert all your buttons to movieclips.
