    callto: link security sandbox violation

I have a desktop air app (not swf or flash) where I have a Text widget with its htmlText set to:

      <a href="callto:8885551212">call me</a>

When this is clicked I get the following error:

      *** Security Sandbox Violation ***
Connection to callto:8885551212 halted - not permitted from app:/MyApp.swf
-- This is due to the value of 'allowNetworking'.

In other places in the app I use the exact same method with mailto: links with no problems. I'm guessing that Air only allows http: and mailto: in the sandbox.

Is there any workaround for this? I searched all over and all I find is sandbox bridges but those all deal with embedded swf files and javascript which don't apply here. This is a .air installed on the desktop.
