    Fireworks pop-up menu

    Primal69
I've made a simple menu .png with a pop-up sub menu in fireworks and when I test it in a browser it works fine. When I load all the files on my server and embed the html file on a page, when tested in a browser the menu's there but the pop-up sub menu doesn't work. I've tried starting from scratch several times but still no good. All the slices and images are in the correct directory... it''s really frustrating! Can anyone please help?
      Thanks

Which FW? Can you post a link to the page?

            yes. the url is http://www.phatsnaps.com/test.html
and there should be a drop down sub menu to 'room 1' & 'room 2'.
            Thanks

None of the required javascript is in the head of the page - that's why your
              menu is failing.

Do yourself a huge favor. Move away from this awkward menu implementation.

Check the uberlink and MacFly tutorials at PVII -

and the Navbar tutorial/articles at Thierry's place

Or this one (more recent article):

You'll think the same thing as you work on the menu system you have chosen.

I suggest you go to PVII ( http://www.projectseven.com/) and purchase one of
their menu systems (PopMenuMagic2 is worth every dime).

Yes, thanks, it looks really good. The problem is, I'm doing this for a school project and a working Fireworks menu with sub menus is required...

Then I suggest you try again. The menu is not working because the required
javascript is not on the page. Please make sure when you place the menu in
the DW page, you use INSERT | Image Objects > Fireworks HTML.

Try it on a dummy (blank) page. Look at the code. See if you have
javascript inserted in the head of the page. Do you?

                            Hi Folks,

I have this question. I am using Studio 8. I did an interface with fireworks, complete with popupmenus and all. I than exported the .png file. I choose the option 'HTML and images. The export worked fine and I can load the page in a browser and it looks fine and the pop menus work fine.

In Dreamweaver, I saved the exported file as a template. I created an editable region. Just for testing sake, I previewed the 'template' in IE and it looked and worked fine. Now the problems begin when I begin to create pages off this template. The pages look just fine while in dremweaver, but when I preview them, what I see is 'x' wherever I was supposed to see images. The 'x' is the type when we see a broken link for an image, but everyhing is in the same folder, and the .dwt worked just fine, so I dont know why this is happening? Can anyone throw some light into this? Thank you.

You may want to drop back and punt on this menu.

                                Hi Murray ,

Thank you for the reply. I just noticed something else. Let's forget menus and drop down lists for a moment. I defined a site, and in the 'Links relative to' option, I selected 'Site root' and I got the message, I need to provide a valid HTTP address for all site relative links to work correctly message, I proceeded anyway. So what happens is that this single html page has got one image sitting in it. When I preview the page, I get the 'x' inplace of the image. I went back to site manage to change the 'Links relative to' setting to Document, and the problem still persists. I am not sure why. The code seems fine to me. Any idea why this happens?
