If you are publishing for the web, then you want to use the Shockwave
settings in the Publish options.
Read through the information on creating effective Shockwave movies in
the online help and at the Adobe Director developer's area on their web
Shockwave is not platform specific. Well made, a Shockwave movie should
play back on any normal browser that your user has available. They will
have to have the Shockwave plugin installed. You should make a simple
link to this download available.

In addition to Rob's comments, you should be aware that QuickTime is not
included with Microsoft Windows.
Some Windows visitors may need to install QuickTime to view the videos.
