I don't know about UltimateNet, but SecureNet comes from a reputable
company with a solid track record and great support. Have you tested a
trial version of it against your proxy?
Not yet, but I’m working on that now. I have noticed one thing that may be cause for concern. Both xtras provide post and get commands that have exact equivalents in netLingo. The sample movie that performed a successful get used UltimateNet’s get syntax, our code uses a netLingo post which did not work. I’m hoping that we are not facing a situation where the xtra’s commands must be used. We actually perform two post operations, one is a simple text stream that netLingo or the xtras can handle, the other post is multipart form data with a binary stream (jpeg photos) which requires the simInet xtra to post. It may be that the simInet xtra does not inherit the authentication properties from these other xtras, if that’s true I’ve got a big problem ;-)
It's a stretch to imagine that one xtra will "inherit" the abilities of
another, unrelated xtra...
Yeah, I know :-( I don’t know much about how proxy authentication works but I was hoping that once the first xtra authenticated all http net transactions from the same source would be cleared, whether they come from the authenticating xtra or not. Given that http transactions are stateless I suspect that the authenticating xtra tags each of its own net transactions with an authentication header which will leave simInet out in the cold.
