If you are talking about PNG file size, take into account that it's
compressed and is likely to use much more RAM than disk space. What's the
image size, in pixels? How many objects, approximately? How much RAM you
have and how much of it is reported "free" when you start FW but not open
          image?

I began experiencing the same thing a few weeks ago. I'mon a P4 with 1
GIG RAM and hundreds of GIGs of HDD space. WinXP Pro is on C,
applications are on another drive, and data is on other drives.

For instance, I have a 260 kb PNG which contains three rectangles, a
small bitmap and some text. All three rectangles have a linear
gradient and one of them also has a texture. If I change the font on
some of the etxt, it takes about a minute to save the file.

What's the deal? FW8 was plenty fast until a few weeks ago and I have
not installed any extensions or other software.
