I've been using Flash for quite some time now. I am using it
now for the first time in a couple weeks and I am going nuts over
this problem I'm having... Basically, I'm trying to call a function
inside a movieclip on my main timeline by using the instance name.
Heres a quick rundown.
// Main timeline Frame 1 (the only frame) contains a
movieclip with "testClip" as the instance name
// testClip actions Frame 1 (the only frame)
I would expect to see "Hello Word" popping up in my trace
window, but there is absolutely nothing. It seems that I am unable
to call a function inside a movie clip. Did I just totally forget
all Flash common sense or am I missing something here? I swear I
used to be able to do this, but now it doesn't work. Anyone have
You can't call a function before it has been defined so you
need two frames on your main timeline. testClip is on both frames.
The first frame lets testClip's function definition run. The second
frame calls the now-valid function inside testClip.
